Abstract

This article examines the effectiveness of using phraseological units in teaching Russian as a foreign language to technical students. Studying the phraseological system of the Russian language provides more than just vocabulary acquisition and skills; it fosters the development of communicative competence, extending to the understanding and application of the language’s cultural aspects. Given the figurative nature of phraseological expressions, attention to students' cultural and linguistic characteristics is essential for effective teaching. This study emphasizes two key methods for teaching Russian phraseology: immersion in a natural language environment, including extralinguistic components, and the use of supportive tools that simulate such an environment. Another important element is the process of semantization, where students navigate the meaning of each phraseological unit by interpreting its figurative imagery. Effective phraseology instruction includes techniques such as interpretation, translation, semantic guessing, and reinforcement through carefully selected exercises and texts. Integrating these methods not only enhances language proficiency but also improves students' ability to navigate cultural nuances, making phraseological learning a valuable asset in teaching Russian to technical students.
