This article examines the application of etymological aspects in teaching numerals in Russian language classes for students in non-linguistic universities. The research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of the etymological approach and its impact on the comprehension and memorization of numerals, a complex category for learners of Russian as a foreign language. The study highlights unique challenges associated with Russian numerals, which are often difficult for students without a linguistic background. Introducing etymology makes the learning process more meaningful, helping students develop a historical and cultural understanding of numerals, which, in turn, facilitates their memorization. The authors provide practical recommendations for incorporating etymological analysis of numerals into the curriculum, enabling students to grasp the logic behind numeral formation in Russian. The analysis of results demonstrates that the etymological approach positively influences student performance, reducing errors and increasing confidence in numeral usage. This study shows that etymological methods can effectively complement traditional methods of teaching Russian, especially for non-linguistic students, fostering a deeper and more meaningful understanding of numerals. Incorporating etymological knowledge into lessons not only aids in memorization but also enriches students' understanding of Russian numerals as part of the language's historical and cultural heritage.
