This article examines the implementation of communicative games in teaching practices to enhance student motivation and engagement in learning Russian as a foreign language, particularly among non-language majors at the University of Kimyo. The integration of game-based technology is highlighted as a means to stimulate active participation, reinforce language structures, and facilitate the memorization of lexical units while simultaneously improving skills in connected and dialogical speech. The primary goal of this research is to explore and systematize game techniques that contribute to the development of communicative competence. The growing interest in non-traditional teaching methods underscores the relevance of this study, especially in light of the communicative focus of modern educational technology. The article provides a comprehensive overview of educational technologies that position games as a significant type. Definitions of game concepts, along with motivational characteristics and needs driving game activities, are discussed. In addition, the fundamental pedagogical principles of organizing game-based activities are presented. Methodologically, the article proposes the effective use of modern teaching approaches combined with game-based technology, designed specifically for teaching Russian in a university context. The practical significance lies in the potential application of situational-role-playing games within both psychological and pedagogical frameworks, enriching the educational process. By integrating these innovative methods, educators can create a dynamic learning environment that fosters greater engagement and success in language acquisition for non-language majors at the University of Kimyo.
